Christmas is one of the most unique times we experience in a calendar year.
I am fascinated by how much my experience of this season has changed over the years.
As a kid, Christmas was magical and ridiculously exciting.
As a teen, Christmas meant new video games and hangouts at the mall.
In college, Christmas meant time off from school.
In my early career years, Christmas meant work all day and night (I was a local church pastor).
Last year, Christmas meant sun and beach and rum & cokes (we were living in Jamaica).
This year, Christmas has me incredibly reflective. A lot can change in such a short time.
Bill Gates famously said that we overestimate what we can accomplish in a year, but underestimate what we can accomplish in 5.
I am about to hit 7 years clean of porn, and I can honestly say that with each year of freedom I move further into my relationships and calling at an exponential level.
It’s the compounding effect, and it’s just getting started.
You may think to yourself “Good for you, Sathiya. Glad things are working out. But what about me?”
What about you?
What are you doing right now to capitalize on the compounding effects of freedom?
Do not forget – freedom is NOT binary. It’s not that one day you are not free, the next day you are.
Freedom occurs across a spectrum. Technically, in March 2016 I was “free” (my last relapse was Feb 2016).
But the measure of freedom I have now in December 2022 is FAR GREATER than anything I experienced in 2016.
And honestly? In February 2015, a whole year before I actually had my last relapse, I had a measure of freedom. It just hadn’t taken me to a place of no relapses yet.
So whether you are just starting out, or you’ve made some progress, I want to remind you that your efforts are compounding. Multiplying. Proliferating.
And as long as you keep the momentum going, your time will come too. I don’t know the minute or the hour, but I know that it will come.
Maybe this was a tough year. Perhaps you thought you’d be further ahead by now and you find yourself stuck.
Maybe Christmas is just the distraction you need from the cares and troubles of a porn addiction.
I get it. I’ve been there.
But here’s what I want you to know – it doesn’t have to stay this way.
We set aside time every week in our calendar to speak with people like you. I still have a couple of slots left before our team takes some time off to celebrate the holidays.
Just click here to book a time – we’d love to see if we can help.
Maybe you’re looking back realizing this has been an amazing year and Christmas is the perfect bow to tie it all together.
Or more likely – you probably fall somewhere in between. This year was great, but it had challenges too.
Celebrate. Enjoy. Give thanks. And make sure you end the year strong (still 8 days left!).
From my house to yours – Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas :).
Cheering you on,
